Name
Mindful Communication: How to Speak Your Truth and Listen Deeply
Date & Time
Thursday, September 26, 2019, 12:15 PM - 3:15 PM
Description
When we are caught in challenging emotions, our conversations are often tense, sometimes, hostile. It is not unusual for humans to blame and judge, which makes it challenging for the other person to listen. Walls go up. Feelings escalate and tension rises. Often, the conversation may never address the real issues. We argue about strategies instead the multiplicity of ways we can meet the underlying needs. In this 3-hour training, you will learn to clarify your intentions and to stay grounded and connected with your body while speaking. You will learn to identify your own feelings and needs and to use empathy to guess at the feelings and needs of the other person. When you do this, you can see yourself and the other person more fully. You will connect with your own and the other’s humanity, as these feelings and needs are universal. The Mindful Communication approach opens the conversation to more possibilities for resolving conflicts. You will learn to use a combination of Mindfulness and Non-Violent Communication for a better result.
