Are you looking for a program that teaches educators, parents, and students about the youth suicide and what they can do to help? The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) developed More Than Sad to help increase knowledge and understanding of suicidal behavior in youth "” its causes, treatment and prevention. Equipped with such knowledge, it is our hope that everyone will be better prepared to identify and refer students who may be at risk for suicide. In this presentation, we will focus on the More Than Sad: Suicide Prevention Education for Teacher and Other School Personnel curriculum, but will also provide an overview of the curriculum for students and parents. This program is designed to comply with state requirements for teacher education in suicide prevention.
