Name
The Ethics of Grief in Children and Families
Date & Time
Thursday, September 26, 2019, 12:15 PM - 3:15 PM
Description
Is there an unhealthy way to grieve? Do children grieve in the same way as adults? What does grief look like in the classroom? Sometimes people are criticized for grieving too subtly, too openly, or too privately. This training will explore how children grieve and the ethical considerations when working with bereaved youth and their families. The workshop will also include an opportunity to explore the “cost of caring” (i.e. compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, etc.) and strategies to promote resilience for educators, administrators, and mental health professionals.
